The Barlow is a place where students grow and learn, we do so much to develop our children in faith, academically, spiritually and as a whole person. We believe that the work we do here, and the students we have, deserve recognition.
UNICEF works with schools in the UK to create safe and inspiring places to learn, where children are respected, their talents are nurtured and they are able to thrive. The Barlow is certainly a place where students thrive and so we applied to be a UNICEF Rights Respecting School and were awarded this accolade in February 2019. The award recognises a school’s achievement in putting the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child into practice within the school and beyond. We now have the Convention on the Rights of the Child at the heart our school’s culture and ethos to improve well-being and develop every child’s talents and abilities to their fullest potential. It fits in with and supports our Catholic ethos and school values that we do so well.
As a Bronze Rights Respecting Schools Award we are embedding these values in daily school life and this gives our children the best chance to lead happy, healthy lives and to be responsible, active citizens… we are already working towards our silver award which we hope to gain during the next academic year!
