Letter from the Headteacher 28/04/20

Dear Parents/Carers

I hope that you and your families remain fit and well during these challenging days.

School Remains Closed:

As you are aware, schools remain closed – except for the following, as per government guidelines:

  • Students classed as ‘vulnerable’.
  • Children of key workers.

Free School Meals – National Scheme:

All families entitled to Free School Meals should now be receiving weekly emails from EDENRED, to allow you to access your ‘vouchers’. Please let us know if you are experiencing any difficulties with this.

Bereavement Support:

It is unfortunately true to say that in the coming weeks and months most families will know of someone who has been affected by COVID-19. More and more young people will face loss or even bereavement – at a time when they are unable to socialise with friends or extended family members.

If your family has been affected, I would like to draw your attention to the fact that support is available via ‘One Education’, by contacting:

  • Helpline for Parents – 0161 276 0115 (Mon-Fri 9am-12noon)
  • Email a question and you will receive a reply from their Educational Psychology Team – bereavementsupport@oneeducation.co.uk

Further information is also available on our school website.

Support for parents of children with SEND:

These are particularly difficult times for all parents and the Government advice remains the same – “Parents should keep their children at home if at all possible.”

While the school remains closed to the majority of children, it is open to children with an EHCP, if staying at home is not an option.

Please be aware that our SENDCO and her team are available for advice and guidance through the week via email.

I would also draw your attention to the support being offered by ‘One Education’, which is providing a helpline for parents/carers of children with SEND. They can offer problem solving phone conversations, relating to educating your child at home – and they will respond to issues you may have relating to learning, behaviour, anxiety or mental health.

You can contact them on:

  • Educational Psychology Helpline: 0161 276 0118 (Mon-Fri 1pm-3pm)

Yours sincerely

Mrs CP McCarron
